Position Overview
The Mechanical Engineer will support engineering, design, estimating, and project management activities for a variety of industrial and commercial construction projects. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to assist with project planning, design development, drafting, documentation, procurement, and construction support.
This role provides exposure to all phases of a project, from concept and design through construction and project closeout.
Job Duties
- Assist with the development of project scopes, designs, and technical documentation based on client requirements
- Support engineers and project managers with project planning, scheduling, estimating, and reporting activities
- Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Assist with quantity take-offs, material lists, and cost estimates
- Participate in the development and review of P&IDs and process flow diagrams
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and field personnel
- Support procurement activities and vendor document reviews
- Conduct field reviews, site measurements, and as-built documentation as required
- Assist with project scheduling and progress tracking
- Participate in safety reviews and project quality control processes
- Promote and maintain a strong commitment to workplace safety
Qualifications
- Professional Engineer designation required
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related engineering technology discipline
- Strong wnderstanding of mechanical systems, process piping, equipment layouts, and industrial construction practices
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and P&IDs
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D or other 3D design software
- Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards including CSA, ASME, and ABSA requirements
- Experience with estimating, scheduling, or project coordination is considered an asset
- Knowledge of HVAC, piping systems, tanks, or process equipment is considered an asset
